My Favorite Boots A/W 19

these boots were made for walking

Whether it’s comfort or looks you’re going for, these boots all have one thing in common: they’re totally worth walking in.

If there’s two items in fashion I’m obsessed with, it’s boots and bags. A good boot can elongate your legs, elevate your look, and give you a little extra confidence in every step. I love a good heeled boot as they are always more comfortable to walk in than normal heels since they give your foot more support than a traditional heeled shoe.

I've included a variety of boots from flats to heels to help you find your perfect pair (or pairs!) Since I live in the city and am constantly on my feet, it's hard to get a high comfort-rating from me. I hope this well help you decide when factoring in which boots fit into your perfect combination of fashion and function.

I'm always looking for my next pair of boots, so let me know what your favorites are in the comments!

Celine Madame

Comfort Level: 7/10

Old Celine has been celebrated for creating shilouttes that are empowering, chic, and feminie simultaneously. This boot rose to fame as many bid adeiu to the reign of Phoebe Philo at the helm of Celine in her last collection, and these boots are a testament to her vision. A square off toe and boxy yet narrow frame gives the piece both strength and elegance, while the shilouette of the heels presents an interesting and bold shape to the boots' heel while giving the wearer more sturdinesses and adding to the boots' comfort and wearability.

The boots are narrow, and while the heel is very wearable for me, I understand it is still not as comfortable for most as a chunky heel could be, causing me to deduct some comfort point. However, it's all worth it for that chic and strong vibe these boots add to every look.

Tip: While these boots are not sold in Celine boutiques any longer, you can sometimes find them at Celine outlets that will carry previous collections (and score them for a discount) or re-sale websites.

Fendi Cowboy Boots

Comfort Level: 5/10

Like anything worth being passionate about, I have a love/hate relationship with the Fendi Cowboy boots. They are absolutely gorgeous, but you need to know your feet will be screaming by the end of the day. The boots are stiff, the heel is high, the point is severe, and the front of the boot is narrow - all ingredients to equal a mantra many women repeat until they believe: "Fashion is pain, but it's worth it." And girl, these beauties are worth it.

These boots come in many different color ways (baby blue and baby pink mock croc for starters) and two different lengths, but me being the obnoxiously loud person that I am chose the tall pair with the classic FFs covering the entire length of the boot. My pair sit just under the knee, while the shorter pair available sit right under the calf.

These boots are a statement no matter what color way you choose with their sharp shiloutte and commanding presence. While they are an unforgettable piece, I have found many different ways to play with the boots. I have styled them with jeans and a white shirt, long flowy skirts with slits, and patterned suits. They draw a lot of attention and have received many compliments because they are just so obnoxious that they are actually cool. I slept on these boots for over a year before deciding next season that I had to have them and scrounged Fendi Fifth Ave, Saks, and Bergdorfs before finally finding them at good old Bloomingdales. Since they are last year's runway, they are a bit hard to track down, but a hundred percent worth snagging yourself a pair if you can. They add such an extra oomph to every look you style them with, you'll easily forgive any pain they caused you last time and eagerly await when you'll get to slip them on next.

Alexander Wang Bite

Comfort Level: 7/10

I love a good short heeled bootie and fell in love with these as a classic heeled bootie with a twist! The chunky heel is sturdy and not hard to walk in at all, while still giving you a few extra inches of height. The silver metal bite in the heel also gives the piece an extra interesting factor and adds and edginess to an otherwise minimalistic style. These boots are a great way to add a subtle edge to your outfit without making too much of a statement or centerpiece out of your footwear. The leather around the ankle is very stretchy, and hugs around and above your ankle which creates less of an obvious line in shiloutte between the edge of the boots and your leg, enlongating the leg.

I took off some comfort points because the front of the shoe is a little too narrow, causing some discomfort after a prolonged time of walking. The discomfort is nothing unbearable, but I would not travel with these shoes as they could put a damper on a long sight-seeing experience.

Frye Combat Boot

Comfort Level: 9/10

The Combat boot is a classic that is reborn into many different trendy iterations every A/W season. A classic combat boot is a great shoe to invest in because you will be able to wear them season after season. However, this combat boot is about as classic as it gets. I have had this same pair for four years now and they are still my tried and true! I own quite a few pairs of Frye boots (From Chelsea boots to heeled booties) that I've owned for a few years and can say I love the quality and construction of Frye's boots and think they are well worth the price, espeically for the Cost per Wear you will get out of them. The leather is durable but still supple making these boots ready to go without a breaking-in period. There are no fancy bells and whistles to this pair, but while I've tried many a trendy combat boot in various embellished forms, I always find my self making my way back to this pair.

I enjoy styling the Frye Comabt Boots as a subtle addition to a casual and minimal outfit, or a boyish statement to tone down a feminine slip dress to make it cooler.

Stuart weitzman 50/50

Comfort level: 9/10

A classic, sexy staple, this boot is so versatile for fall and winter. Wear with a short dress/skirt, jeans, leather pants, or under slip skirts during the colder months for maximum warmth. I don’t love a lot of flat boots (because your girl is a whopping five feet tall) but this pair is my go-to when I don’t want to wear a heel. The way this boot hugs your legs and doesn’t slouch will elongate your legs and makes them appear slimmer thanks to the elastic fabric back half. You also know they’ll carry you through A/W seasons for years to come as they never go out of style. They have an almond toe which is more flattering and narrows the foot better than a rounder toe and is less severe than a point. They are extremely comfortable and I can wear these shoes all day long. The only reason I deducted a point is because I do have wider feet and the shoe can be a little too narrow in certain situations (aka they hurt me in the cobblestone streets of Europe but are great for the mainly flat sidewalks of NYC)
